Video:
This remaster was more challenging, as the video formats used by the arena cameras were different to each other. The 720p Blu-Ray release and 576i DVD release were both used.
Some shots in the Blu-Ray release are actually 720p (and not deinterlaced or upscaled), while other shots were blend de-interlaced and upscaled of 576i material.
To get the best results with the AI engine, some of the lower-resolution wider clips were manually deinterlaced from the DVD source (QTGMC Placebo) and put in place of the Blu-Ray.
The combination file was then passed through multiple AI / "Deep Neural Network" techniques to refine the details and dynamically upscale to 1080p. The frame rate has been boosted to a silky smooth 50FPS. In addition to all of this, "old fashioned" frame-by-frame manipulation was also used to create the best possible version of this iconic performance.
Compression artifacts and noise have been minimised, and Colour, Levels, Clarity & Sharpness have all been hand-tuned.
Audio:
Nightwish Arena has done it again worked his magic to create a newly remastered version of the End Of An Era live set.
The intense energy of this performance has been enhanced, and each instrument has been tweaked in a fuller, clearer and more balanced sound - to compliment the significant increase to visual fidelity. Considering this was the last show after a very long "Once" tour, the band did not hold back - and Nightwish Arena's attention to detail make sure this shines.
As with their very popular Deichbrand & Wacken 2013 releases, Nightwish Arena and ShauningtoN are to be commended for some truly amazing work here.
