The Isle of Wight Steam Railway held its annual 'MAY STEAM GALA' over the weekend of Saturday 26th to Monday 28th May 2018.
For this year's event the railway achieved a preservation first by hosting its first ever tender locomotive - BR(M) 2MT-class 'Mickey Mouse' 2-6-0 No.46447. Whilst this locomotive is owned by the IWSR it is not suited the line and so is currently based at the East Somerset Railway. It joined its other two Ivatt 2-6-2T Nos.41298 and 41313 on certain service trains. Due to it not being fitted with air-brakes it only did one trip on each set with each loco during the day and spent the rest of the day shunting a Ballast Train around Havenstreet.
