Thanks to a Kubota owners facebook group I discovered a quick fix for this common problem that occurs with kubota tractor engines. Apparently the Kubota engineers thought that manual tension applied by levering the alternator was a good solution for keeping the belt tight. spoiler alert... It isn't.
They also didn't leave any room to apply their suggested method of tensioning the belt because the cabin air conditioner is in the way of the access to the space between the alternator and the engine block. I had to come up with a work around.
