Australia residents in the southeast part of the country saw snowfall coat the area after Antarctic air blew through, prompting many to head outside to enjoy the rare event despite wild winds and heavy snow.
New South Wales, Victoria, the Australia Capital Territory and the island state of Tasmania saw the surprise snowfall, just ten days away from the start of spring in the country.
More than three feet of snow fell in a number of alpine regions, according the Bureau of Meteorology, and the cold weather could remain for several days.
