When people say they don't make them like this anymore about Steinways, this Steinway Model O Grand Piano is one that meets that description. From the brilliant wood grain of the case, the real, original key tops, to the exquisite sound and touch, this is one of the great Steinways. The piano was rebuilt and refinished in the 1980's with new strings, pins, pin block, hammers, shanks, knuckles, and dampers. This is a rare example of a piano that has had an incredibly gentle life both in regards to environment and use. The holy grail of a piano is its sound board and this piano has a sound board that is as close to flawless as I've seen. This results in a tone that projects and sustains a long time up even in the high register.
