This program will be/was broadcast LIVE at 7:00pm CST on Sunday, May 1, 2022. Join the Midwest Rail Rangers as we head to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for the evening. The main focus is going for two roundtrips on the world famous Duquesne Incline. It is a funicular located near Pittsburgh's South Side neighborhood and scaling Mt. Washington. Designed by Samuel Diescher, the incline was completed in 1877 and is 800 feet long, 400 feet in height, and is inclined at a 30-degree angle. It has an unusual for United States (but standard for Finland, Mongolia and the former-USSR) track gauge of 5 feet. The Midwest Rail Rangers is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that normally presents onboard educational programs on the South Shore Line (Chicago to South Bend), the Wisconsin Great Northern Sky Parlour and Mark Twain Zephyr Open Houses, on private rail excursions across a seven-state area, on Amtrak charters organized by the 20th Century Railroad Club, and at various outreach events. Due to the COVID-19 virus, we have decided to offer virtual programs to the public instead... until our in-person programs can safely resume on trains. For more information about the Midwest Rail Rangers, check out our website: www.RailRangers.org. You can also browse through our collection of books, e-books, and MP3 route guides at the Rail Rangers Store at www.MidwestRails.com. All sales go to support our non-profit organization.
