A general session for the public that's a good introduction (with great Q&A) to the underlying thinking for the 7-Generation Greater Tkaronto Bioregion (GTB) initiative.
Joe Brewer is a global regeneration leader and complexity thinker, and Co-Lead of The Design School for Regenerating Earth. With a background in both earth systems science and cognitive science, he's currently doing on-the-ground regeneration work in a 500,000 ha bioregion around Barichara, Colombia, and helping to create a global bioregional network.
In this session, Joe outlines the predicament in which we find ourselves, and the regenerative action we can take in the context of the smallest local scale – the bioregion – that reflects bigger planetary processes.
This session was hosted by Brian Puppa and Susan V. Bosak of the Legacy Project, and the Town of Caledon, on February 4, 2023.
The 7-Generation GTB initiative draws on the seminal 1992 Regeneration report done by former Toronto Mayor and MP The Honourable David Crombie. He and The Honourable Pauline Browes are serving as Ambassadors for 7-Generation GTB.
To navigate the polycrisis, 7-Generation GTB nurtures both social regeneration (generations in community) and ecological regeneration (community in bioregion).
As part of the first North American cohort, 7-Generation GTB has an opportunity to both lead and learn from regions around the world in a new global Bioregional Network.
