USCGC Eagle formerly the Horst Eagle and also known ad the Barque Eagle, is a 295-foot barque used as a training cutter for future officers of the United States Coast Guard. Eagle is the seventh USCG cutter to bear the name in a proud line dating back to 1792. She was built in 1936 in Hamburg, Germany and was commissioned as Horst Wessel. The ship fought for Hitler during WWII
Was taken by the US as a war prize after WWII. She sailed from Bremerhaven to her new homeport in New London, Connecticut, USA.
