After the success of the factory acceptance tests, Naval Group's demonstrator of Extra large Underwater Autonomous System (DDO) is passing its functional (communication, sensors...) and surface and underwater navigation performances tests at sea.
In October 2021, during the Naval Innovation Days, Naval Group unveiled its demonstrator of Extra large Underwater Autonomous System, which it developed using its own funds and alongside a cluster of partners (SME, academic, design office, start up...).
For example, Naval Group has joined forces with the start-up Delfox in order to make progress in the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies for underwater drones.
In 2022, Naval Group upgraded its DDO with a view to re-running its tests in spring 2023.
As a reminder, the DDO is the first XL-UUV demonstrator which is a key element of the UCUV (Unmanned Combat Underwater Vehicle) project of the French defense procurement agency (@DGA) because it will be used to integrate and test at sea the key technological bricks based on the main operational use-cases specified by the @Marinenationale.
