This video provides a brief explanation of the Principles of Metallurgy online course offered by Industrial Metallurgists, LLC. For more information go to [ Ссылка ].
Principles of Metallurgy provides engineers with practical metallurgy knowledge about fundamental concepts that apply to all metals. You will learn metallurgy terminology, metallurgical factors that influence metal properties, and how alloying, heat treatment, and cold working affect metal strength.
This course was designed for people who want an introduction to metallurgy or want to refresh what they learned years ago in a college course. The concepts taught will help you:
Make better design and manufacturing decisions
Solve quality and reliability problems
Have more productive metals conversations with suppliers, customers, and engineers
in the course you will learn:
-Relationship between a metal’s properties and its composition, microscopic structure, and the manufacturing processes used to fabricate the metal.
-Microscopic structures in metals.
-How microscopic structures and metal composition influence metal strength.
-How microstructure changes occur during heat treating.
-Metallurgical changes due to alloying, cold working, and heat treating, and their effects on metal strength.
Concepts covered are applicable to all metals. Steel and aluminum examples are presented.
The course consists of 12 modules, each 5 to 25 minutes long, and a final exam. Quizzes and problems give you opportunities to apply the concepts taught.
You will have 4 months access to complete this course.
The module titles are:
Introduction
Composition
Microscopic structures
Crystal defects
Diffusion
Application of Metallurgy Principles
Cold working
Annealing cold-worked metals
Solid solution strengthening
Steel Metallurgy
Precipitation Strengthening
Course Review
A certificate for 4 training hours (0.4 CEUs) will be awarded after completing all course modules and successfully completing a final exam.
