Gresley A4 Pacific Sir Nigel Gresley 60007 working Steam Dreams "The Cathedrals Express" railtour from London Kings Cross to York and return (to Finsbury Park due to engineering works).
The video starts off with a look at the tour booklet that was given to every passenger (filmed at home the following day). We then see the train arriving to Retford, where I boarded the train. A couple of minutes after setting off, we arrive at Babworth down loop where we made a stop for water.
After a stop of around 30 minutes, we drew up to the signal at the end of the loop. I filmed the departure from the loop as well as view from the train during the journey to Doncaster. We were signal checked on the approach to Doncaster, probably due to other services crossing over the mainline, before accelerating through Doncaster station.
More on-board footage is featured including Colton Junction, where the line from Leeds joins the ECML, and the approach to platform 10 at York, Network Rail's new Regional Operations Centre in view as we arrive.
We then see Sir Nigel Gresley and support coach pull forward from the rest of the stock before moving off to the NRM for servicing. We also see a Class 37 couple onto the stock (although it propelled the stock into Holgate sidings after I had left the station and gone into the National Railway Museum.
This part ends with a few trains arriving and departing York station. We see a couple of CrossCountry Voyagers, and East Coast Intercity 225 and a First Transpennine Express 185.
