Bread is one of the most basic staples, especially for us Singaporeans. A few decades ago, there were more than 200 traditional bakeries in Singapore, but today we are only left with a handful, mostly helmed by bakers from the older generation, who bake without the use of any preservatives—the old-school, traditional way.
