Cades Cove Loop in Great Smoky Mountains National Park offers a vehicle free day on Wednesdays during the summer. I took advantage of this to bike Cades Cove in order to enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery, view wildlife, and see the history of the Smoky Mountains. My favorite part of biking Cades Cove was the opportunity to see a mama black bear and her cubs, both the bear cubs and mom had no interest in us gathered around to watch the forage in the fields. In addition to the black bears and other wildlife in the smokies, Cades Cove also has a lot of history to offer, as it was originally a settlement before it became a national park. Along the road there are multiple stops where you can view old cabins, churches, and even an old grist mill. Biking, hiking, or even driving Cades Cove Loop Road is a great option for anyone looking for things to do in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
