The hip examination is often the most frequently performed medical examinations and is essential to master for the orthopaedics block at medical school
The orthopaedic clinical skills have a departure from the "standard" approach of inspection, palpation, percussion, and auscultation, instead opting for "look, feel move"
As well as the standard examination of the joint, preparation for medical OSCE's should also include revision of Thomas test for fixed flexion deformity of the hip and Trendelenburg test, looking for the dysfunction of the hip caused by weakness to the gluteus medius and minimus
