A major global challenge today is how emerging economies rely on foreign digital platforms. These platforms control data, exclude local cultures, and limit innovation, leaving countries like mine dependent and disadvantaged.
In Pakistan, most platforms are foreign-owned, so critical data is stored abroad. Small businesses struggle to compete, and millions of people are excluded because local languages like Urdu are unsupported. This challenge is global countries in Africa, Southeast Asia, and Latin America face similar struggles, which weakens their ability to grow digitally. Pakistan and China can work together to solve this. China’s platforms like WeChat and Alibaba show how local needs can be prioritized. Together, we can create open-source digital platforms that support local languages, empower entrepreneurs, and protect data benefiting all emerging economies. This partnership can become a global model for fair and independent digital ecosystems, helping emerging economies thrive in the digital future.
