As heavy rain poured over Johannesburg on Monday, several parts of the city were experiencing floods that affected traffic flow severely.
Several bridges were flooded due and motorists around the city were stuck in the storm due to road closures. The rain did not only wreak havoc in traffic but caused great damage to the infrastructure of the city. The floods affecting low lying areas, pose a great safety risk to residents. In November 2016, a 3 year old toddler from Alexandra Township in Johannesburg, was swept away by floods. Her body was found days later.
