BEAUMONT - First responders asked families to remain in their homes near the site of a gas main rupture in Beaumont.It took Centerpoint Energy more than two hours to stop the flow of natural gas on Magnolia Avenue. Police blocked the street for hours. The leak was reported at about 10 a.m. in the area near Magnolia and Prince.According to first responders Beaumont water department crews were trying to repair water leak when they hit the natural gas line.It caused a two inch rupture. Firefighters asked nearby homeowners to shelter in place but some people we spoke with say the odor forced them to leave. No one was hurt during the gas line rupture.
