Speaker Bio: Margit Bertalan is the Regional Social Safeguards Coordinator for the Central Africa & Gulf of Guinea Region, based in Kigali. Prior to joining WCS as a Regional Social Safeguards Coordinator, Margit was a consultant for WCS working on designing grievance mechanisms for protected areas. She completed her PhD in ecological anthropology and conducted her PhD research on community perceptions and social impacts of conservation initiatives in Kenya.
