After removing the remaining grafted portion of this Ficus Ginseng, Ficus Microcarpa, I planted it in soil. The removed graft rooted in a few weeks.
Today, I will repot it into a bonsai style pot and start its transition into a form and style.

Grafting trees is an important horticultural process, and has its place for producing robust result in plant and trees. For me, I see it as a necessary technique for helping trees survive. This Ficus has been grafted for aesthetics purposes, and I’d much rather it have it natural leaves. Most likely, a smaller leaf ficus variety has been grafted onto the root of a Ficus ginseng root base. Ive waited near two years for the tree to send out a branch below the grafted portion.. Im excited to start the transition to a more natural leaf form.
