The Kindergarten Teacher provides Maggie Gyllenhaal a career-best performance in writer/director Sara Colangelo’s potent tale of obsession between a teacher and her young student. The controversial film came to the capital tonight for the 2018 London Film Festival and we spoke to the cast on the red carpet.
The actress talked about how surprising it was when she read the first script, how it was working with her very young co-star and how they kept the filming fun, working like a documentary at times. She also talked about how the film leaves you with questions, and how the ambiguity is part of the point of the film.
The film also stars Gael Garcia Bernal, Parker Sevak, Ato Blankson-Wood, Lbya Pugh, Michael Chernus, Carter Kokima and Anna Baryshnikov.

A kindergarten teacher in New York becomes obsessed with one of her students whom she believes is a child prodigy.
