This little girl was born with a unilateral cleft lip and alveolus. Her parents received extensive counseling at the time of her birth. They were accepting and looked forward to getting it corrected. They were subsequently referred to our hospital for treatment.
We have been treating children with cleft lip and palate deformities for over 30 years now. Our work has been awarded at both the national and international levels. Many patients from all over the world avail our cleft lip and palate surgical services.
She underwent cleft lip repair at the age of 3-1/2 months old. Surgery commenced with raising a C-flap for rebuilding the floor of the nose and the nasal sill. The cleft lip was then reapproximated using a three-layer closure. The orbicularis oris, subcutaneous tissue and skin were aligned using a surgical loupe.
There was very minimal scar at the time of suture removal on the seventh day following surgery. Lip correction was optimal and aesthetic closure had been obtained.
