That's me yelling in the background, lol. I was excited to get this right in front of where my friends and I were standing.

Formula 1 has grown in popularity in recent years due to its promotion on social media and music & film celebrities promoting and attending F1 races around the world and posting on their social media accounts, followed by hundreds of millions of people worldwide. As a result, Chicago was one of the lucky cities to host this Emirates Fan Festival. Miami, Milan, Marseille all had an event last year, in 2018. Shanghai had their F1 Festival before Chicago, in correlation with the Shanghai Grand Prix ( Chinese GP ), and Los Angeles, California as well as "a yet to be confirmed Brazilian city" will host F1 events later in 2019, the Brazilian event set to coincide with the F1 race in Sao Paulo in November.
The event here in Chicago featured a "track circuit" on a closed-off section of Museum Campus Drive East of Soldier Field on which several cars ran at some speed, not quite fast, but fast enough, I guess one could say. A couple of local celebrities, ABC 7 Chicago meteorologist Cheryl Scott and Bears NFL Quarterback Mitch Trubisky got to ride in an F1X2 2-seater car driven by former professional F1 driver Zsolt Baumgartner. Also at the event, large screens were set up to watch the qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix in Montréal, a race that ended in controversy following a track incident between Scuderia Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel and AMG Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton. Despite Vettel physically finishing first, Hamilton was awarded the win due to a 5-second penalty against Seb following what was ruled as an "unsafe track re-entry' after he lost control about three quarters of the way through the race. Either way, we had some fun Saturday before Sunday's race. I'll upload a video with more clips from this event later on.
Now, about the car - the Sauber C30 is a Formula One open-wheel racing car developed by Sauber Motorsports for use in the 2011 Formula One racing season. As with its predecessor, the Sauber C29, the C30 is powered by a Ferrari engine, but with added capability to house Ferrari's customer KERS ( kinetic energy recovery system ) system. There have been several upgrades to the C30, essentially with a new iteration being released every year with upgraded aero and overall performance.
