In a world of decaying resources, Hydroklear a company built on Family values, has been working in the many areas of water and wastewater to help improve the environmental impacts created by so many.
One major area of concern has been the release of high levels of copper laden effluent, from the distillery processes into our shared environment.
Not only is this copper, a valuable natural resource that needs to be constantly, replaced by copper from the decaying mining throughout the world, but just as important it inhibits the biological qualities of the distiller’s discharge, to the site waste-water treatment facility, dramatically increasing the energy required for treatment, but still leaves the copper to be discharged to land or water courses and ending up in our surrounding seas.
Hydroklear developed a unique process that captures the copper at the distillery source on a safe medium. And where the copper can be released at their site and the medium recharged, sent back to the distillery for capturing more copper.
Thereby this process becomes a full circular economy which not only puts the copper, being wasted, into a reuse form but also makes the distillery nearer to a zero harmful waste producer, as well as reducing their energy and carbon footprint.
Hydroklear with the support of Zero Waste Scotland have been able to move the goal towards a complete sector impact reduction in harmful discharge but also by creating the opportunity to re-use a valuable resource and help reduce our overall environmental impact.
Hydroklear received support from Zero Waste Scotland’s Circular Economy Business Support service and were awarded funding from the Circular Economy Investment Fund.
