Hey, guys. Today we have 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan. We're going to take a look at, and show you how to install, these Konig Premium Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains. Now, it's always a good idea to keep chains in your vehicle when you're experiencing inclement weather, or if you just live in an area where it's very common to have that type of weather. But Konig really went the extra mile to make sure that you have a nice experience installing your chains in a very easy time installing them. The chains have a diamond pattern, which is going to give you more coverage around the tire and, thus, giving you more traction. We have these D-links that are forming a cross chains.
Those really dig into that snow and ice, break it up, and give you the traction you need through starts, stops, and turns. For those times when you might be experiencing some pretty thick ice, that's why they built in these ice breakers, right here, so that it just really digs in, uses the weight of the vehicle to break up that ice, and allows your tire to pull you where you need to go.The chains are made out of a durable manganese alloy steel construction, so they're going to be very durable and corrosion resistant. While, down here, we have our plastic traction caps, which are also going to be very durable and flexible, so that when you're driving around, the plastic is not going to break, at all. With these chains, you're not going to have to get behind the tire, at all, to make any connections. You're going to be able to do everything from the front.Once you have them all installed, you just tighten it down, and it, basically, clamps itself onto the tire, while also using your lug nut to make sure that it has an anchor point, for if anything we're to go wrong.
The chains are also class-S compatible, so they're going to be good for vehicles with low wheel well clearance, like our Grand Caravan. The chains come in a quantity of two, and they come in this nice carrying case that's going to make for easy storage. The case is also going to have all the tools and instructions that you need to get your chains set up for your tire. Now, if your Grand Caravan has all-wheel drive or four-wheel drive and you want to have a set for the back tires, just use the same part number. Now, that we've gone over some of those features, we'll show you how to install. Now, before we start installing your chains, you want to make sure you go through your instructions, and do any of the pre-assembling for your chains that's going to make it fit your certain tire size a lot better. Once you've done that, just check it over for any broken links, or any twists or tangles.
We seem to be good, so what we're going to do is grab our chains from the top and begin to get it over top of our tire and on the sides. Now, it's only going to go halfway onto the tread. Just got to get it right on. We'll do that to each side. There we go.Now, from here, what we're going to do.
We don't have to worry about getting this part under the tire. It will do that itself later. Now we're going to come to the middle, and it our lug nut clamp installed. You want to make sure that whichever lug nut you put it on, you want this triangle, right here, this red one, facing, it's like an arrow, towards the middle of the tire. So just move it around, once you get it installed, and centered right, just start hand-tightening it.Now, we'll grab our wrench, that's included in our kit, and begin tightening it down. You want to make sure you hold it in place, so it doesn't move at all. It doesn't have to be too tight, just snug. That seems to be good. Now, from here, just double-check and make sure you got your chains lined up properly on your tire and all around it. Now, from here, all we're going to do is ratchet it down. Now, what's going to happen is, once you have it all the way tightened, once you drive forward a bit, your chains should slide themselves under the tire and then straighten itself out. However, depending on your tire size, you may need to get out and make a few adjustments, but that might not be necessary. Once you've repeated this process with the other side, you can drive forward a bit, and it's always a good idea to stop and get out, and just make any adjustments, if you need to. Just check, and just double-check they're on there tight.Well, with all that being said, that's going to do it for our look at the Konig's Premium Self-T
