FAIRHOPE, Ala. (WPMI) One Fairhope business must have its calendar mixed up because they're getting ready to celebrate Mardi Gras in July. And they've tapped Local 15's Darwin Singleton to be the Grand Marshal for the event.
The Fairhope Brewing Company has organized the event and it has everything to do with what they brew.
"Lil' Poison Brown Ale is our seasonal beer. It was inspiried by Grayson Capp's' song Drink A Little Poison Before You Die. In fact, when we first brewed it we brewed just 10 gallons of it and Grayson came over and threw the hops in for us. It proved to be so popular during Mardi Gras that we really just wanted to bring it back for a special occasion. And that's what we've got here," said Dan Murphy, brewmaster at Fairhope Brewing Company.
"What do people dow here really love? They love Mardi Gras! And that's something we knew we could transfer over here in July and get all of the beads and outfits and we're gonna have masks and Moonpies and do everything we can tomake it feel like it's a quick little Mardi gras weekend. We did need a grand marshal, because every parade has someone who rides in that convertible. We don't have a convertable for you, but we do have a lot of beer and we're thrilled to have Darwin accept our invitation to be the grand marshal for our first ever Fairhope Brewing Mardi Gras in July!" added Brian Kane with Fairhope Brewing Company.
