First, open the QuickTime Player app on your Mac. You can do this by searching for it in Spotlight or by finding it in your Applications folder.

Once you have the QuickTime Player app open, click on the "File" menu in the top left corner of your screen. From there, select "New Screen Recording."

A new window will appear, giving you the option to customize your screen recording settings. You can choose whether to record audio along with your screen, select which microphone to use, and choose whether to show mouse clicks in the recording.

When you're ready to start recording, click the red "Record" button. You will then be prompted to select the area of your screen you want to record. Click and drag your cursor to select the area you want to capture, then click "Start Recording."

You can then go about your business and record your screen as needed. When you're finished recording, click on the "Stop" button in your menu bar, or simply press the "Command + Control + Esc" keys to stop the recording.

Your screen recording will automatically be saved as a .mov file in your "Movies" folder. From there, you can edit the recording as needed or share it with others.
