This is my favourite tong sui of all time! Don’t let its gloopy, jet-black appearance turn you off; black sesame soup (黑芝麻糊) is a gloriously nutty and aromatic Cantonese dessert. I first had it at an old-school dim sum shop in my mom’s hometown of Ipoh, Malaysia, and it was love at first slurp. 😋

INGREDIENTS
30g (3 tbsp) long-grain rice
150g (1 cup) black sesame seeds
30g (1/4 cup) peanuts, shelled
80g (1/2 cup) Chinese rock sugar/granulated sugar
4g (1 tsp) salt
1-1.5L (5 cups) water
