Men say, that in this midnight hour,
The disembodied have power
To wander as it liketh them,
By wizard oak and fairy stream,—
Through still and solemn places,
And by old walls and tombs, to dream,
With pale, cold, mournful faces....
~William Motherwell, "Midnight and Moonshine"
This was one night i wasn't going to miss...The West Somerset Railway's 'Steam & Scream' Themed Evening based at Stogumber Station. This event which i sadly missed last October 2014 (Due to Sharon's Emergency Helicopter flight to Taunton's Musgrove Hospital) was extremely lucky with the Weather once again in it's second Year. A really balmy October Evening, clear skies and no Wind...!! A dream that rarely happens !! The first clips are of a tender-first 4160 on the last UP Train to Bishop's Lydeard at 17:17...The shots were actually darker than they appear thanks to the amazing low light capabilities of the Panasonic X920. We have a quick look around the Station and it's waiting Room to look at the spooky decorations and await the appearance of 4936 'Kinlet Hall' bringing in the Families for the event. The Train then goes off into the darkness to Williton..With empty dark Carriages...or were they ?? ...How on Earth the crew could see where they were going beats Me !! In the gardens was the Exmoor Zoo Animal Roadshow, all to keep the Children amused during their time here. 4936 eventually reappears from Williton and then there was a superb Fireworks display just before the Train departed to Bishops Lydeard. This is the first time i have ever filmed at Stogumber at Dusk and in the dark...although there was only minimal lighting in some areas...the place had a magical atmosphere in the Air...Like a World within a World...very special indeed...Something unless you were there you can only imagine. **A massive well done to all the Stogumber Station staff and volunteer helpers..they did a superb job and should be justifiably proud of what they achieved this Evening.... Thank you all.!! I just hope this video has done the evening Justice...Thanks for watching...Looking forward to next Year's already !!! Steve.~
Filmed on a Panasonic HC X920
With a Velbon DV-7000 Tripod.
**No spooks were harmed in the making of this video !!
