This song was inspired by my first trip to Berlin. An incredible place that is full to the brim of artistic, creative, free people who are celebrating being reunited again after such hardship... still a massive divide between the east and west but its clear when you are there that there were many relationships, families, friends that were divided so suddenly by the wall, and many lost lives by trying to cross and get back to loved ones, and they are now either reunited or forever parted but celebrating their renewed feeling of freedom.
One of the most tragic stories is of a man who tried to cross to his love but was shot down dead in February, 1989. He was just 20 years old and was shot 10 times. Just 8 months later he would have been free to walk across the fallen wall. His cross is there on the "death strip" site and is one of the last pictures in the video that I took almost exactly 21 years later to the day.
