There has been some bitterness from Senator Kimberley Kitching's supporters over the circumstances of events leading up to her death, says Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell.
"There had been a long delay in Victorian senate preselections being decided and they were set to be decided upon by national executive," Mr Clennell said.
"There was a belief some in the Victorian Right wanted to see Kitching rolled and that the leader Anthony Albanese was standing by watching this happen.
"But if you speak to the Albanese forces, Kitching was going to be endorsed ... Nevertheless, there is little doubt Kitching and her office had a strained relationship with Anthony Albanese and his office."
