...Source: [ Ссылка ] Transcript: According to *Electrek*, Tesla’s energy storage business is seeing significant growth, but its solar business is fading. Tesla’s energy storage deployment grew 75% year-over-year in the third quarter of 2024. Despite a sequential dip from 9.4 GWh to 6.9 GWh, the company is working on large-scale battery projects that could impact quarterly numbers.
Tesla’s Lathrop Megafactory is now producing Megapacks at full capacity, reaching 40 GWh per year. This could potentially lead to 10 GWh of deployments each quarter. Tesla also disclosed that its Shanghai Megafactory is on track to begin shipping Megapacks by the first quarter of 2025.
In addition, Tesla’s Powerwall production has ramped up to 700,000 units annually, contributing over 2 GWh of energy storage per quarter. Over 100,000 Powerwalls are now enrolled in Virtual Power Plant programs, helping stabilize the grid during peak demand.
However, Tesla’s solar business is shrinking. The company no longer reports solar deployment, and its solar operations are now mostly handled by third-party installers. The word “solar” wasn’t mentioned during Tesla's Q3 2024 earnings call, signaling the company’s shift away from this segment.
