She was born María de los Dolores Asúnsolo López-Negrete. Filmmaker Edwin Carewe encouraged her move to Hollywood. Her big break was in the silent film “What Price Glory?” She became a pioneer of Golden Age of Mexican cinema. In 1960, she earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She co-founded El Cervanito, a cultural festival in Mexico. She’s been honored with statues and murals across the world.
