After an 81-year-old man drove into a gas station in Quincy last night, minorly injuring six people, some have begun asking Jim’s favorite question: Why are older drivers not re-tested for road safety? Current law does not require people to re-take drivers’ tests after their initial one – meaning a senior citizen driver has not taken a test in fifty years or more. To debate, Jim Braude was joined by Elizabeth Dugan, an associate professor of gerontology at UMass Boston and a member of the Governor’s Council on Aging, and Evan Falchuk, CEO of the Village Plan, which helps match families with elder care services.
