Useful winter mountaineering preparation in the wild Rodnei Mountains.
We climbed up to Pietrosul Peak 2303 m, but before that we learned and practiced the basic winter climbing techniques, organized by Salvamont Satu Mare (mountain rescue).
We learned about:
- how to make climbing knots
- safe use of crampons and ice axe
- ice axe self arrest
- travel on a rope team
- how to build an ice axe anchor
The distance was 9 km with 695 elevation gain from Iezer meteorological station to Pietrosul Peak.
