Can I be paid as a caregiver through the VA's Aid and Attendance?
Paula K. Almgren, Esq.: Yes, children, grandchildren, anyone of your choosing can be a paid caregiver under the Aid and Attendance program, which is part of the pension benefit through the VA. When you're applying for benefits for the Aid and Attendance, you have to submit the amount of hours your caregiver works and proof of payment to the caregivers. Anyone can be paid through the VA as a caregiver except a spouse.
