Professor José E. Alvarez is Herbert and Rose Rubin Professor of International Law at New York University. Formerly he was the Hamilton Fish Professor of International Law and Diplomacy and the Executive Director of the Center on Global Legal Problems at Columbia Law School.
Prof. Alvarez's research and teaching interests include international law, foreign investment, and international organizations. He is presently a member of the United States Council on Foreign Relations, the Board of the Center for Reproductive Rights and the U.S. Department of State's Advisory Committee on Public International Law. Additionally, he is special adviser on public international law to the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court.
