But first, these are the states that have yet to get approval for FEMA’s approval for the Lost Wages Grant.
District of Columbia, Kansas, Nevada, Nebraska, and South Dakota which is not applying.
These are the states paying $400 Kansas, Kentucky, Montana, Vermont, and West Virginia.
The big question is always when these states will begin sending out the $300 or $400 in extra unemployment benefits.
The states that are paying or are scheduled to begin payments are Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, and Utah.
If you hear your state, make sure you're getting your money.
If you still haven’t applied for unemployment benefits in your state, what are you waiting for?
Check to see if you are eligible for state or PUA benefits and apply today for these extended, enhanced unemployment funds.
These weekly $300 or $400 unemployment checks will not be available for long, as your state could run out of money any day now.
Trump signed executive orders on August 8th because of the stalled negotiations about the new stimulus bill which resulted in Lost Wages Assistance (LWA) funding that provided $300 to $400 in unemployment insurance.
This extra unemployment insurance is limited to up to $44 billion redirected from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
Once a state is approved, each state will be given a portion to cover about 3 weeks of extra unemployment, however those funds won’t be distributed until September or as late as October.
If the state needs more funding , they will be approved by a week by week basis until all funds are gone.
However, it is unclear if there is enough money for more weeks of extra unemployment benefits.
A senior policy analyst and the National Employment Law Project said, “It’s really unclear whether states that got it up running faster will get additional weeks or if they’re setting money aside so that every state will get the fourth and fifth and sixth week.”
Unless another emergency becomes available, the money could run out.
And finally, more than 400,000 Arizonans receiving unemployment benefits need to prepare for the $300 supplement in those payments to end abruptly, perhaps as soon as next week.
Arizona was the first state in the nation to pay the supplement.
Arizona’s director of the Department of Economic Security, Michael Wisehart said, “Unfortunately, we are going to have very little notice when this happens, and it is likely that the $300 benefit will stop abruptly for individuals.”
Once the unemployment benefits provided from the LWA grant run out, the question for many states who will soon be in this same predicament is where are they going to get enough money to pay for all those still applying for unemployment.
If you are a gig-worker, self-employed, independent contractor, or 1099 worker don't miss out.
FPUC needs to come back were all but out of FEMA LWA and the unemployment extension boost be gone.
