In this video, we'll show you how to make Semiya Upma, a popular South Indian breakfast dish made with vermicelli noodles. This recipe is quick and easy to make, and perfect for busy mornings when you want a hot and filling breakfast.
Ingredients:
1 cup roasted vermicelli noodles
1 onion, chopped
1 green chili, chopped
1/2 inch ginger, finely chopped
1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
1/2 teaspoon urad dal
1/2 teaspoon chana dal
1 sprig curry leaves
2 cups water
2 tablespoons oil or ghee
Salt to taste
Freshly chopped coriander leaves for garnish
Directions:
1. Heat oil or ghee in a pan, and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, urad dal, chana dal, and curry leaves. Fry for a minute until the mustard seeds start to pop.
2. Add chopped onion, green chili, and ginger, and sauté until the onion turns translucent.
3. Add the roasted vermicelli noodles to the pan, and fry for a minute until they turn golden brown.
4. Add 2 cups of water and salt to taste, and stir well. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let it simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until the vermicelli is cooked through and all the water is absorbed.
5. Turn off the heat, and garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves.
6. Serve hot and enjoy your delicious Semiya Upma!
