Planned as a crucial alternative to the ever-congested Lekki-Epe Expressway, the Lagos Regional Road was envisioned as a game-changer for commuters and businesses around the Lekki corridor in Lagos. But four years after construction began, the project is raising more questions than answers.
In this video, we take an in-depth look at the current state of the Lagos Regional Road project. Has it been abandoned, or is progress simply moving at a snail’s pace?
Join me as I take you around the construction site to see what’s happening on the regional road.
The Lekki regional road which was flagged off in 2020 is currently undergoing construction, the road will help decongest traffic on lekki - Epe Expressway and within the lekki axis. The road will also provide access to Victoria garden city (VGC), Ikate, Ikota, Chevron drive, Ajiran, Pinnock Beach Estate, Gracefield Island, Orange Island and the environs.
The regional road project include;
• 8.75km road
• 500 meters bridge
• 251 meters Interchange
• 50 meters bicycle lane and
• 500 meters adjoining road.
The road starts from VGC junction all the way to link freedom way and the road construction is also a precursor to 4th mainland bridge which is on way. The regional road will serve as alternative road to lekki - Epe Expressway and the preparation for the link up to the 4th mainland bridge.
