(28 Nov 2019) Mourners rushed from a building on Thursday where they had gathered for the start of funeral ceremonies for some of the victims following a small tremour.
The funeral was being held at the Durres Theatre for four family members killed in the deadly earthquake that hit Albania on Tuesday.
The Health Ministry said Thursday that more than 750 people were injured in the 6.4-magnitude earthquake that struck before dawn Tuesday.
A number of aftershocks were also recorded near Durres during Thursday's operation, including a 4.9 magnitude tremor, according to the United States Geological Survey.
The death toll stands at 40 after more bodies were pulled from the ruins.
Rescue crews with specialised equipment, sniffer dogs and emergency supplies have flooded into the country from neighbouring countries and other European nations to help with ongoing search efforts.
