Confirming some comments, yes the black cat is a past traveler and the white cat is a future traveler, split from the same cat from before it touched the hourglass. They do not have canon names ( placeholder nicknamed Past and Future) or gender, so any headcanons are fine! Just don't force it onto others.
The title and thumbnail for the song itself were the main inspiration for the animation, hence the hourglass and the purple yellow palette.
