The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) says at least 980 people have died on the country's roads since the beginning of December. A total of 215 more people have died on South Africa's roads in the last three days.
RTMC Spokesperson, Ashref Ishmail, says they do not believe they will reach their targeted reduction of 25 percent of road fatalities. "We are definitely not going to be reaching our 25% target. We are going to increase our enforcement. We are seeing more and more dangerous driving which is a cause for concern. The issue of head on collisions particularly remains very worrying," says Ishmael.
