Today on our 2019 Chevrolet Colorado, we're going to taking a look at and showing you how to install the Titan Chain snow tire chains, part number TC2828. The tire size we're working with today is 255/65 R17. These chains are great for off road applications. The V-bar style links are going to provide you with superior traction through very extreme snow and ice and other off road places. The ladder pattern on the chains is going to provide you with great traction when you're starting and accelerating and when you're coming to a stop. They've got a low carbon steel construction so they're going to be very durable and last a long time. You want to be careful of using these V-bar style links on very light conditions because it'll poke through or could tear out the pavement and produce unnecessary wear and tear on your chains. These chains have a maximum street rating of 30 miles per hour and they come in a set of two in this nice canvas bag that's going to make for easy storage.
Now that we've gone over some of those features, let's show you how they install.First you want to lay out your chains flat. You'll want to check for any broken links or any twists or tangles in the chain. You do want to make sure that all the V-bars on your crossbars are facing up away from the ground and that your cam buckle right here is on the left side of the tire away from the tire.Once you've done all your checks, you just grab the chains and then drape them over the top and sides of the tire. And then do your best to line it up with your tire at the bottom of each side. Now here on the backside we'll make our first connection.
We have our hook right here and then we have our five links. You might have to guess at first about which link you want to put on. We'll start with the third one and if we have to, we'll come back and adjust. Now on the front side we'll go the same number of links and I'll feed the cam buckle through and pull it over and then fasten it on this link right there. Now as you can see, the chains are pretty loose which is why the manufacturer suggests using a rubber tensioner. How it works is you, we'll start at the top, we'll bring the hook behind the chain like that and then we'll go around, attaching the rest of the chains, making sure we get it as evenly spread out as possible.
And it's going to pull out the slack that's in our chain right now. Right there you can see, pull out that slack so we're good to go.Once you've completed all of these steps, just repeat the process for the other side. If your truck has four wheel drive and you want a set for the front tires as well, just use the same part number. And there you have it for the Titan Chain snow tire chains on our 2019 Chevrolet Colorado.
