Adaptive Social Protection: A key lever for responding to climate-related loss and damage
15 June 2023
So far, the discussion concerning loss and damage (L&D) funding arrangements (including a fund) has not focused much on the question of how to ensure that the vulnerable people within a country can be targeted and reached in a timely and proactive manner. From this starting point, the event discusses the role that adaptive social protection systems could play in the envisaged “mosaic of solutions” for responding to L&D comprehensively and the implications this has in relation to the L&D funding arrangements (including a fund). On this topic, the event aimed to connect the climate community, present in Bonn for SB58, and the adaptive social protection community, present at the same time in Berlin at Global Forum on Adaptive Social Protection 2023 (co-hosted by BMZ and World Bank).
