HEADLINE TEXT: Reax as Fetterman struggles in Senate debate
++PARTIALLY COVERED++
2. SOUNDBITE (English) Marc Levy, Associated Press:
"Last night was the first and only debate between Democrat John Fetterman and Republican Dr. Mehmet Oz in the closely contested race for an open U.S. Senate seat. And the debate, it was clear from the beginning that John Fetterman was going to struggle with his speech and struggle to speak clearly and smoothly. This is five months after he suffered a stroke, and despite his efforts to attack Oz, viewers were captivated by watching him. It was impossible to ignore that he was still struggling with his speech."

3. SOUNDBITE (English) Marc Levy, Associated Press:
"Democrats who watched it were concerned. They were clearly concerned and trying to talk about rather the fact that what John Fetterman stands for is important. Fetterman's campaign says he's improving, that he's getting better, that he is 100% cognitively healthy, it's just that he has an auditory processing disorder, which is a common condition of a stroke, and it affects his hearing. Republicans know it was bad for him and the Oz campaign is sticking to the issues and staying away from issues of Fetterman's health. But you do have Republicans on social media who are raising questions about Fetterman's ability to serve, about his cognitive understanding of questions that are being put to him, his ability to debate."

5. SOUNDBITE (English) Marc Levy, Reporter at Associated Press:
"Most people will probably just see clips of the debate on TV or on social media, and some question whether it will change their mind or change how they vote or even make them vote."

7. SOUNDBITE (English) Alex Reber, 37-year-old voter from Millersburg, Pennsylvania:
"Some people see this as a fitness issue. I don't because I think he's still cogent and smart and capable (referring to candidate John Fetterman). But some people, because of the speech issue, in the hearing issue, have some concerns. And it's a shame we can't fast forward and see how that's going to work out. I think people are concerned, but I think a lot of people that know John, love John."

8. SOUNDBITE (English) George Reigle, 62-year-old voter from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania:
"I wish I could make a choice right now. I wish I could lean one way or the other and say so. I can't. I can't. I'm torn. And it's primarily on the abortion issue."

9. SOUNDBITE (English) George Reigle, 62-year-old voter from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania:
"Regarding the issue of the economy, Fetterman has some fantastic ideas, okay? In my opinion, and my opinion only, Dr. Oz is an outsider. He's from New Jersey -- not to pick on New Jersey -- however, he's not local. He does not know; he does not understand the needs of this community. Fetterman does."
