Here's my compilation of Two Great Western Castles, 5043 Earl of Mount Edgcumbe and 7029 Clun Castle, both owned and run by Vintage Trains in action together on the mainline. The last two years has seen three tours where the two double chimneyed Castles worked together, heading to Didcot, Hereford and Plymouth respectively. The highlights of Clun Castle and Earl of Mount Edgcumbe together includes an incredible performance up the Lickey Incline with an 11 coach train plus an idle diesel on the back, as well as a barnstorming and momentous performance up the South Devon Banks of Dainton, Rattery and Hemerdon on the Mayflower with 12 coaches in tow.
The Great Western Castles is one of my favourite steam locomotives to film on the mainline and to have two of the finest steam engines working together makes it an even more special occasion. Full credit goes to Vintage Trains, the support crew, and the footplate crew for making a dream of mine a reality, and long may it continue into the future.
