Rated as the number one thing to visit in Palma de Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain, the Cathedral of Santa Maria of Palma is a beautiful Gothic church. In the heart of the city of Palma stands the magnificent 14th-century cathedral known as La Seu and, as the most emblematic building in Mallorca's capital, it’s a must-visit. It’s impossible to miss this imposing golden sandstone building: it’s one of Europe’s tallest Gothic structures, perched above Parc de la Mar and a superb sight for those arriving by sea.
The cathedral of Palma is on the site of the mosque which stood opposite the Royal Palace of La Almudaina during the Moorish occupation of Mallorca.
