Already seeing the mixture of snow and sleet falling early this morning. We will continue to see this icy mixture has we head throughout your early morning hours. With this being said, your morning commute will be very slick and icy. Take your time and consider leaving a few minutes early.
During the late morning hours, that’s when we’ll begin to the transformation over from ice to rain when temperatures rise about freezing. There is a chance of freezing rain during the transformation process, so continue to drive with caution.
We are under a Winter Weather Advisory lasting until noon today. This means that we will continue to see this winter mixture along with accumulating snow and ice. Majority of the accumulating snow is staying north of the Quad Cities, while here in the QC seeing less than an inch. Accumulating ice amounts are looking to be very low as well, melting by the late morning hours.
The winter system moves out by noon, leaving us dry and cold for the remainder of the evening. Highs today will reach the upper 30s while lows dropping down into the single digits. Strong winds will be the case for majority of the day leaving wind chill a major factor tonight. Wind chills could drop down to 20 degrees below zero in some areas throughout the overnight hours.
Staying in the teens for the next few days, but the weekend will bring in the 40s!
