(17 Feb 2017) Thousands of Peruvians took to the streets of Lima Thursday to protest a corruption scandal that has led to the arrest warrant of ex-president Alejandro Toledo.
Many of those marching believe the corruption extends to current president Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, and two other former presidents, Alan Garcia and Ollanta Humala.
In early February, a Peruvian court ordered the arrest of ex-President Alejandro Toledo as prosecutors investigate whether he took 20 million US dollars in payments from construction firm Odebrecht in exchange for favouring the Brazilian company in a major highway contract.
It is believed Toledo is in San Francisco.
Local media reported he had intended to go to Israel until that country's government said he would be denied entry.
President Kuczynski has called on Toledo to return to Peru to face justice.
