Bijoy Jain is the architect and founder of Studio Mumbai, a progressive architectural studio based in the Indian capital. Studio Mumbai employs architects and local craftspeople to work alongside each other on building projects, championing traditional Indian skills and processes in the creation of contemporary structures.
Jain’s works in the M WOODS collection are noticeably different to other architectural drawings, possessing a certain humility you don’t often find in such diagrams. They speak to the need for architecture to embrace history and tradition but to solve modern problems. The drawings show consideration for place, environment, culture, social engagement and the sustainable use of local resources.
